A lot of people fall in to the trap of believing that a budget printer means budget running cost in terms of printer ink cartridges, nine times out of ten this is not the case. Epson S21 ink cartridges cost the same as the printer itself. Compatible printer cartridges are available for the S21 and they do cost a lot less, but a lot of people who buy the S21 will feel cheated because the genuine Epson ink cartridges should be a lot cheaper than the actually are. In terms of value for money in the area of printing performance the Epson S21 can’t really loose because it costs so little anybody expects it be a juggernaut performance wise, and it certainly isn’t. Epson say that the S21 can print photos but at the speed in which it prints that there’s not enough hours in the day when a 10 x 15 photo print takes five minutes to print! Printing speed of normal documents like plain black text is far from impressive to, the spec sheet says that the printer can print 25 pages per minutes but this is in draft quality and the text is barley readable, increasing the quality settings to a point where the print is readable reduces the speed to 2.5 pages per minute. The Epson Stylus S21 is so cheap that you can properly forgive its short falls unless you use genuine Epson cartridges and print high volumes of documents with it.
